The humble "A frame": we saw this poor lady having to lift her bike to get the basket over the top of the A frame - she said she'd only just fitted the basket and clearly found it a struggle. The council justify A frames by arguing that residents won't allow the cycle lanes unless frames are provided: otherwise miscreants on mini motorbikes cause a nuisance. No mention of the nuisance to those on bikes, let alone a trike, recumbent, or with a bike trailer. Many cycle friendly cities manage to build functional, unobstructed cycle lanes. Imagine a car journey where you had to keep stopping and getting out of your vehicle? No, we don't want that either.
