CTC (the national cycle campaigning organisation) and Cyclenation (federation of local UK cycling campaigns) hold a joint annual cycle campaigning conference. The 2013 conference will be in Leeds, hosted by Leeds Cycling Campaign!
The conference brings together local and national cycle campaigners, taking part in workshops and sessions to share best practice on how to make cycling better in the UK. The 2013 conference, titled “Local and national: making the links” will focus on how to use the current political buzz around cycling to make a real impact in your local area.
Workshops will include the following topics:
- Get Britain Cycling: mobilising the cycling vote
- Cyclescape: a tool for coordinating and organising campaigns
- Understanding your local authority
- Using the media
- Revitalising your local campaign group
- Reaching out to Health and other partners
- Explaining quality infrastructure
- Strengthening Campaigning
- CTC’s new campaign, Road Justice
As usual there will be social events and rides, including dinners on Friday and Saturday nights and a chance to join Leeds Cycling Campaign’s social rides on Sunday 6th October.
For those who are arriving in the city before the conference, Friday night's evening meet-up will be in the Victoria Hotel and Public House on Great George Street, Leeds (just close to Leeds Town Hall). More information and a menu is available here:http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/thevictoriahotelgreatgeorgestreet/
For those who are able to stay in Leeds after the conference, we're organising an Indian meal in Leeds, venue to be confirmed but it will be good quality and not too pricey! They also provide English meals for those not keen on Subcontinental food.
Should you stay in Leeds overnight, you're welcome to join in with our regular Sunday ride, which will take in some of the highlights of the Tour de France route in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We're hoping to offer a shorter ride for the lass adventurous too. More details to follow.
