A ride to the last surviving Clarion Clubhouse to celebrate Clarion Sunday on September 19th when cyclists and choirs gather to celebrate cycling and fellowship. Clarion Cycling Club was founded in 1894. Cafe stops at Cliffe House, Keighley; bring a packed lunch for Clarion House though pints of tea (60p), soft drinks and snacks are available. Another refreshment stop on the way back and possibly a moment of reflection in the Lawnswood Arms at the end. Clarion Clubhouse was built in 1921 and is the last of its kind situated in the heart of 'Pendle Witch Country' - we will be passing the statue of Alice Nutter who was hanged for being a 'witch' - her main accuser was 9 years old! For those wanting a shorter ride you can take a train to Keighley and join us there and take a train back from Skipton.
