Long Ride to Halifax 37 miles

Getting to Oakenshaw avoiding both the Super Highway and the detour through Tong and then the standard route to Halifax.  Shortly before the Shay Cafe stop, there will be the opportunity to attempt the cobbled Trooper Lane ascent. Those not wishing to be so foolish can avoid it and descend to the cafe straight away.  At the top of Trooper Lane we will retrace our steps with much braking, to the cafe also.  Then a hill-less saunter along the Calder and Hebble navigation to Brighouse and a quite direct route back to City Square including Tong Road and avoiding the mayhem at Armley Giratory.
